Someday, Somebody Will Miss the Ordinary Version of You

I've been thinking about how we remember people.

Not the big moments. The ordinary ones.

The way somebody laughed at their own jokes.

The sound of their footsteps coming down the hallway.

How they always sat in the same chair, told the same stories, or insisted on doing something their own peculiar way.

Things we barely notice while they're happening.

Then one day, those little details become the things we remember most.

It's made me think differently about my own life.

We spend so much time trying to accomplish something significant. Build something. Fix something. Leave something behind.

And those are worthwhile ambitions.

But I wonder how often we overlook the quiet influence we already have on the people around us.

A conversation at the kitchen table.

An unexpected phone call.

Showing up when somebody needs a hand.

Being the person who remembers.

I'm not suggesting we abandon our ambitions or start treating every Tuesday like a farewell tour.

I'm suggesting that an ordinary life contains more meaningful moments than we tend to recognize while we're living it.

Someday, somebody might remember the way you laughed, the advice you gave, or how you always made room for them.

And the funny thing is, you might never know which moment mattered.

So be present for a few more of them.

Not because time is running out.

Because this is what we're spending our time on.
